Democratic Institutions and Governance Department together with the Local Government Research Center (Russia) successfully launched first online innovative training: an e-participation expansion case can be mirrored for other CE divisions

On March 26th, 2016 an introductory online course based on the toolkit “Twelve principles of good governance at local level” was successfully launched in Russia. Only 45 days' production cycle brought to life an interactive, practical eighteen hours’ online course with over a hundred country specific examples and latest governance practices. The course offered through E-learning Municipal Network University (http://naminfo.ru) immediately became a success among digitally oriented young audience in over ten regions, and the number is growing. The pilot project ultimately supports the development of a coherent approach of the role of online education and strengthening of democratic culture among new generations in one given member State as the essential prerequisite of sustainable democracy.
